Im Osten der Samt- und Seidenstadt Krefeld liegt der historische Stadtteil Linn mit seinen liebevoll restaurierten Häusern. An der Kreuzung wichtiger Handelsstraßen entstand im Mittelalter zunächst ein markanter Wohnturm. Danach erfolgte der Ausbau zur klevischen Landesburg mit mächtigen Ringmauern. In der ständigen Sammlung und den Sonderausstellungen des Kaiser-Wilhelm-Museums ist internationale Kunst des 20. Jh. zu sehen. Das Deutsche Textilmuseum stellt ca. 25.000 Textilien aus aller Welt aus einem Zeitraum von 2000 Jahren aus.
