In Färjestaden endet die 6072 m lange Brücke über den Kalmarsund, die Öland mit dem Festland verbindet. Rund 9 km östlich von Färjestaden befindet sich Gråborg, die größte Fluchtburg Ölands mit rund 165 m Durchmesser. Erhalten sind die Ringmauer und das Torgewölbe. Die Anlage wurde zum Museumsdorf ausgebaut.
