Travel information

Schaprode war als westlichster Hafenort Rügens schon früh für den Seehandel und die Fischerei von Bedeutung. Hier steht die drittälteste Kirche Rügens (um 1200), eine Basilika mit durch Staffelblenden gegliederter Westfassade und einem hölzernen Glockenturm-Aufsatz. Kanzel, Altar und Beichtstuhl bilden ein schönes Barockensemble. Die Glasmalereien an den Fenstern zeigen Schiffe und Kapitänsnamen.
