Unweit der Müritz-Elde-Wasserstraße liegt Parchim, das – ebenso wie Plau – für seine Fachwerkhäuser bekannt ist. Dazu steht hier noch eines der ältesten, weitgehend im Originalzustand erhaltenen Rathäuser aus dem 14. Jh. Die beiden Pfarrkirchen St. Georgen und St. Marien stammen aus dem 13. Jh. In St. Georgen sind Reste des Hochaltars und ein Schmerzensmann aus dem frühen 15. Jh. zu erwähnen, in St. Marien besonders der Schnitzaltar (ca. 1500) mit einer “apokalyptischen Madonna” im Strahlenkranz.
