Travel information
Der Kurort Methana ist für vor allem seine Thermalbäder bekannt. Die schwefelhaltigen Quellen sind vulkanischen Ursprungs und weisen auf die mehr als 30 ruhenden Vulkane der Halbinsel hin. Einer davon ist der Malia Vgethi beim Dorf Kameni Chora, dessen historischer Ausbruch um 230 v. Chr. von mehreren antiken Dichtern, u. a. Ovid, dokumentiert wurde. Unterhalb des Dorfes Megalochori finden sich noch Überreste der antiken Akropolis von Methana.
