Das hübsche alte Fischerdorf gruppiert sich schneckenartig um eine Burgruine (12. Jh.) auf einem Felsen. Die heute über 1300 auf Stelzen stehenden Strandhäuser (pilotis) in den Dünen von Gruissan-Plage waren Mitte der achtziger Jahre Kulisse für Jean-Jacques Beneix’ Kino-Drama “Betty Blue”.
