In der Altstadt von Águilas ist vor allem die Plaza de España mit ihren schönen alten Ficus-Gärten und dem mit einem Schwan verzierten Brunnen sehenswert. Hier steht auch das Rathaus (19. Jh.), das im Neomudejar-Stil erbaut wurde. In der Kirche San José (19. Jh.) wird das Bildnis der Virgen de los Dolores, der Schutzpatronin der Stadt, aufbewahrt. Über dem alten Stadtkern thront auf einem Hügel die Festung San Juan de Águilas (1579), von der man einen herrlichen Ausblick auf die Stadt und den Hafen mit seinem schwarz-weiß gestreiften Leuchtturm (19. Jh.) hat.
