Der historische Stadtkern von Lübz mit Marktplatz, Ziegenmarkt, Amthaus, Rosengarten und Eldebrücken wurde nach 1991 vorbildlich saniert. Der spätromanische Amtsturm von 1308 ist der einzige Rest der Eldenburg und beherbergt heute das Stadtmuseum. Zu besichtigen sind außerdem die historische Wassermühle, das Planetarium und der Wasserturm, der eine gute Aussicht ermöglicht. Die Mecklenburgische Brauerei Lübz ist eine der größten regionalen Brauereien Norddeutschlands.
