The sailboat "Youexplore II" was designed by Arne Borghegn and built by Lars Pedersen (Yardbuilt) in 1998 in Denmark.The boat is specifically crafted to withstand voyages in Arctic waters, considering insulation, hull dimensioning, heating, etc. It has been used as an expedition vessel in Svalbard and along the Norwegian coast.Constructed with 6mm steel using a bent frame construction, it has a long keel with a diesel tank capacity of around 3000L within the keel. The hull is externally metallized above the waterline and coated with a two-component paint system. All deck details welded are in stainless steel. The windows in the cockpit are made of thermal glass. Below the waterline, the hull is treated with tar epoxy and antifouling paint. Internally, the hull is treated with tar epoxy and 80mm foam. Frames are spaced 42cm apart with stringers every 30cm. The keel is 35mm steel, and the keel front is 80mm. The boat has 3 steel bulkheads.Rigged as a cutter with 2 roller furling forestays and mainsail. It features 7 Andersen stainless winches and can be sailed by one person. The standing rigging is also stainless steel.Entrance with an aluminum door to the wheelhouse with an internal steering position, instrumentation, and a chart table on the starboard side. Pilot berth on the port side in the wheelhouse. Under the wheelhouse floor, there are 2 x 500L freshwater tanks with a water pump, battery bank, and a 300L day tank for the engine. Forward from the wheelhouse is a spacious galley on the port side with a gas stove - 4 burners and an oven. Double sink with hot and cold water, ample cabinet space. On the starboard side, there's a leather-trimmed salon. Further forward ahead of the salon, a large stovage/cabinet. On the port side in front of the galley, there is a bathroom with a shower, toilet, sink, mirror, and cabinets. The forepeak has a cabin for 2 people. In the aft, there is an aisle with a drying room and a Kabola diesel central heating boiler. The aft cabin is large with three berths and a large folding table in the middle that can be used as a salon.
