Bemerkungen

After enjoying Erla for 13 years, we now see that the time may be right for others to take over the boat. In recent years, we have used her too little, and are therefore considering selling her to the right people.
The boat is a very pleasant place to stay and appears like a wooden boat despite the fact that the hull is made of fibreglass. All furnishings are handmade in full teak, and represent unique craftsmanship that cannot be found on newer boats.
After we took over the boat, it was updated in many areas, and the boat is generally in good condition, but characterised by a little lack of care in recent years. Some photos are taken some years ago.

The boat is located in Norway in the municipal marina at Husvik in Drøbak, close to Oslo and can be inspected by appointment. Until end of April the boat will be onshore, and the hull can be inspected.

Some information about the boat in addition to what is available online:
The boat was sold new in Seattle and imported to Norway in 1991. One owner from -91 until we bought it in 2010.
Until it was sailed to Norway, it had been on several long trips in the Pacific, including to New Zealand. We have a lot of history on the boat.

The boat has undergone several upgrades and maintenance. Browse engine replacement for Yanmar 4HJ2 in the 90s. Overhaul of top and new heat exchanger was carried out in 2020

The boat has been in storage on land every year since 1991. Custom made cradle, heavy tarpaulin with support included.

From a Sailing magazine:

The Baba 35 is a beautiful and robust offshore cruiser that is perfect for a small family or a couple.
Sailors who admire the Baba 35 are quick to point out that „the bluewater cruiser“ has both beauty and strength. The long-keeled, double-ended cutter schooner was designed by naval architect Robert H. Perry. When it was first launched in 1979, the boat was called the Flying Dutchman.
During the 1970s and 1980s, a small group of Taiwanese boatbuilders gained a reputation for masterful craftsmanship and solid construction. Among these was Ta Shing Boatbuilding Co. in Tainan, Taiwan, where the Baba yachts were built. The small yard had attracted the attention of developer Bob Berg, who at the time was a partner in the West Coast Flying Dutchman dealership. When it became clear that sailors liked Perry’s 30-footer, Berg asked the designer to make a larger version. The new design was released as the Flying Dutchman 35, but over time that name was forgotten and the boat became the Baba 35.
