Bemerkungen

Our 2002 Broadblue 38 Prestige “RARE BREED” is for sale! Currently lying in Panama in the Shelter Bay Marina on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal.This decision to sell was taken in the second week of November week. It came very unexpectedly due to circumstances we did not anticipate. So, until one week ago we still planned to continue sailing her and eventually cross the Pacific. Thus, we had her hauled out in October/November 2024 and did all the prep work (new antifouling, new anodes, servicing of both engines and countless additional small repairs and upgrades) for the next sailing season. So with this boat the term „turn key condition“ is actually really true. There is definitely no maintenance backlog for this boat (even the fuel tanks are almost full 😉 and she can leave anytime to cruise anywhere. The ideal boat for someone looking to sail away immediately and cruise the Caribbean or go through the Panama Canal for the Pacific. EU VAT is paid. These boats were also built as "Prout 38" before Prout went bankrupt and Broadblue took over the moulds. I am the second owner and the boat has never been chartered and had very little usage until 2021. She has a very high level of workmanship in all areas. She was kept in UK (2002-2017) and then in Germany until summer 2021. (no tropical sun!) and winter storage in a closed hall. Since summer 2021 we are living and travelling with her. The first owner was actually employed by Prout and the designer of this model. Rare Breed was fitted out with all possible options available for this model: • Enclosed shower stall in port bathroom • Additional ensuite bathroom in stbd hull • Bowsprit and additional stay for genoa • Extra port holes in both hulls • Long range fuel tanks • Bigger engines (2 x 55 HP) She was meticulously maintained by the first owner. We continued that as we intended to use her for long distance sailing and as our home. She is completely energy autarch and we can easily live off the solar panels and lithium batteries running two fridges, Starlink and other electrical consumers 24 x 7 without any problems. The Broadblue 38 is a proven and sturdy long distance world cruiser, which can also be very fast (we crossed the Atlantic from the Canary Islands to Bequia in the lesser Antilles with nearly 3000 nm in 18 days) The sail plan with a big furling-genoa on a permanent bowsprit, a furling jib and the Mast positioned well aft is perfect for easy (single)handling. All sailing maneuvers are done from the safety of the cockpit. The boat is driven by it’s large head sails, the mainsail is rather small and can be left un-reefed up to app 30 knots of wind. The layout below is the owner’s version, with a separate shower stall in the port hull, and a second ensuite guest bathroom in the stbd hull: • Port hull is the owners hull with the bigger stateroom aft and a huge bathroom with separate shower in the bow. Ample storage in many cupboards and in the bilge. • Stbd hull has a guest cabin aft with an ensuite bathroom with shower, a large pantry and a smaller guest cabin in the bow, which we use as a lazarette (no mattress) • The bridge deck has a salon with a big round dining area which seats up to 8 people and can be converted to a lounge with a daybed or for sleeping while on passage. The navigation table is on the port side of the salon with a fantastic all-around view of the outside. She has two Volvo Penta D2-55 with app. 1200 h each. Two stainless steel long range diesel tanks of 235l each. The engines have never been used for battery charging and are in a top condition. No oil usage, no smoke and immediate starting.
