THREE RIVERS SUMMARY
Among pilothouse sailboats, the Nauticat 37 is considered one of the best designs with an attractive profile and roomy interior while offering respectable sailing performance. Solidly built in Finland in 2003 by Nauticat Shipyard (previously Siltala Yachts) in high-quality European workmanship reputed to be comparable to Halberg Rassy in build-quality and joinery. “Three Rivers” is a comfortable blue water sailboat ideal for extended cruises or live-aboard. Her large pilothouse with a raised saloon provides a bright living space with excellent all-around visibility, also perfect for keeping watches and navigating in the open seas in safety and comfort. Featuring a large aft-stateroom, a V-berth, and two heads, a saloon and galley, the NC37 has comparable living space as many 40 footers.
Although a 2003 model, commissioning for this boat was finished in 2008, as evidenced by factory sign-off papers. Her previous owners sailed her across the Atlantic 10 years ago, and she has been lightly used since. I bought her three years ago. She has been diligently maintained and is in very good condition, with many recent upgrades and refurbishments including:
– Major engine maintenance overhaul by Yanmar dealer. New valves, gaskets, refurbished entire cooling system – new fresh water pump, serviced heat exchanger, exhaust elbow, replaced seals, gaskets, hoses.
– New solar panels (830W total) with high-efficiency charger, AGM house batteries, new starter battery: she is completely self-sufficient for typical live-aboard energy usage including water-making.
– Awning cover, new cockpit enclosure cover for both sun and rain; new sun cover for all hatches. This makes for very comfortable living in all climates.
– Lightweight dinghy and new outboard
– Rocnar anchor and new all-chain rode.
– New navigation tablet and console display, new Raymarine E80 chartplotter, new DSC handheld VHF.
– Starlink-mini: Reliable, high-speed internet consumming only 2-3A.
– All new LED navigation lights and interior lights.
– New refrigeration.
– Refurbished teak deck.
– New running riggings (partial), standing rigging inspected (12-2024)
– New High-water bilge alarm with backup bilge pump
– New membranes for watermaker, new high-pressure hoses
– Bottom stripped to fiberglass, 2 coats of Seahawk epoxy barrier/primer, 4 coats of Seahawk 77 antifouling (2024)
The boat is currently lying in the Caribbean side of Panama at Shelter Bay Marina, an excellent resort-grade full-service marina near the entrance of the Canal. I have owned 3Rivers for three years and have enjoyed this excellent cruising area. However, my plans have changed and 3Rivers is in turn-key condition for a new owner to enjoy the beautiful cruising grounds of the Caribbean.
