“COLUMBUS OF LYMINGTON embodies the timeless elegance of a classic gentleman yacht, designed by J.F.H. Roger. With over 30 years of cherished ownership, her second owner spared no expense in enhancing her features. This magnificent vessel now boasts a schooner rig and an upgraded auxiliary engine – a powerful Volvo 72 hp engine with sail drive – allowing for graceful sailing. Additionally, her original TWIN CATERPILLAR D343 diesel engines ensure smooth cruising at a comfortable speed of 12 knots, with a maximum speed of 14 knots. Notable improvements include a 2.5m hull extension, now measuring an impressive 26m, as well as the addition of a bulb to minimize pitching when under engine power. Remote steering controls and a luxurious jacuzzi on the fore deck are just a few more of the remarkable upgrades that make her truly exceptional.” The current owner has diligently enhanced her with contemporary amenities, while preserving her timeless charm. This exquisite yacht can comfortably accommodate 7 guests in 3 luxurious double cabins, each equipped with ensuite bathrooms. Additionally, there are 2 crew cabins to ensure exceptional service throughout your voyage. Launched in 1972, features a robust all-steel construction for both its hull and superstructure. Equipped with two powerful Caterpillar D343 engines, each producing 375 horsepower, the yacht boasts impressive performance. These engines are seamlessly coupled with twin disc gearboxes of the M.G 514 type, complemented by three-bladed variable pitch propellers for enhanced manoeuvrability. Additionally, the vessel is equipped with a Volvo D2-75 auxiliary engine, featuring a sail drive 150sr and a convenient folding propeller (located in the lazaret). The estimated fuel consumption using the main engines is approximately 60 litres per hour at a speed of 10 knots, including the generator. However, if you use the sail drive and generator, the fuel consumption drops significantly to less than 8 litres per hour at a speed of 4 knots, particularly in calm conditions. The vessel is equipped with Vosper maxi fin stabilisers, powered by both engines, ensuring excellent stability. Additionally, a Pflueger hydraulic bow thruster, powered by the port engine, enables precise manoeuvring. For enhanced control, there is a power take off for the steering and variable pitch propellers on the port engine. To ensure redundancy, backup electrical motors are available for both the variable pitch and steering systems. The hydraulic electric anchor windlass boasts two anchors, each with 100m of chain, providing secure and reliable anchoring capabilities. To meet the onboard power requirements, two generators are installed. The engine room houses a G&M 17.5kva 3-phase generator with approximately 3,800 hours of operation. Additionally, a Betamarine 13kva 3-phase generator, with approximately 1,300 hours of operation, is mounted in the lazaret
