Van de Stadt 36 Seal. Built 1987 in Holland.
We bought the boat in 2015 and we are the 4th owners.
We have upgraded the boat extensively, abt 35-40 k€ (in addition to the normal maintenance):
2015-2016:
– the entire engine room was rebuilt with new components
– new engine Sole Mini-44 2016
– cleaning of fuel tanks (2 storage tanks) + new day tank and fuel transfer system
– new thru hull fittings
– new electronics:
— B&G Zeus2 W7 chartplotter
— Simrad & B&G NAC-2 autopilot
— Simrad HS60 satellite compass
— Simrad RPU80 autopilot pump to hydraulic steering
— Navico RF25N rudder indicator
— B&G V50 VHF with AIS receiver
— Airmar DST800 multisensor (depth, speed, temperature)
(old radar exists, but I am not sure if fully functional as I have not used it)
– new stove with gimbal
– new hatch on fore deck
2017:
– new winter storage cradle
2018:
– new doghouse (dodger)
– new 100W solar panel
– new Nature’s Head composting toilet
– replaced old treadmaster with paint system
2019:
– new mattresses
– new roof panels (inner)
– new water heater
– new potable water pump
2020:
– new main sail (27m2) and genoa (33.5m2), UK Sailmakers
– new lazybag
– new gennaker with sock (second hand but in good condition)
– new domestic battery
2021:
– new anchor winch (Quick Hector 700W), abt 22kg CQR + 35m chain + 50m rope
– new bilge pumps (2)
2022:
– new refrigerator
2023:
– new propeller shaft thrust bearing
2024:
– new 45W solar panel (now 100W + 45W)
– new start battery
Notes about the boat:
– Insulated with polyurethane, deck with foam, hull with sheets
– Original (epoxy) paintwork succesfull, local rust spots found only on edges of holes
– Topcoat with Interlac 665
– One welded patch on port side, just below waterline. History unclear, probably tumbled down on land as no signs of water ingress. Not beautiful but solid work and we decided to do nothing to it.
– One dent at stern on starboard side
– We have used the boat only in the North Baltic Sea and Gulf of Finland
