Protected classic – Well documented – Re-engined
With over 70 years of experience, Swedish boatbuilder Storebro Bruks AB has earned a solid reputation worldwide. Known for its uncompromising craftsmanship and timeless design, Storebro builds boats for those who truly appreciate quality – boats made to last. With its classic hull design and practical layout, the Storebro Royal Cruiser 43 is the perfect cruiser for sea-loving families seeking maximum comfort, safety, and space. Whether you’re planning coastal voyages, weekend getaways, or need a steady liveaboard, this boat delivers – in any weather.
️ About the Boat
This is one of only 13 Storebro Royal Cruiser 43s ever produced. Only two were delivered with a flybridge (less aesthetically pleasing), while the remaining 11 – including this one – have the classic and harmonious design Storebro is known for. The boat is today classified as a protected vessel, which makes it eligible for public grants for work such as teak deck restoration.
Comes with 90 pages of original documentation, including manuals, procedures, and technical descriptions. In addition, it includes invoices for work performed at Framnes, offering thorough and traceable service history.
The teak deck was renewed in 2006 with new 12 mm teak laid over the original. The result still presents beautifully. All maintenance has been performed by certified service centers.

Layout and Interior
The Storebro 43 impresses with its well-thought-out layout and functional design. Boarding is easy via side gates and wide side decks, with high railings for safety. The aft deck is spacious with room for a seating area. The bench behind the wheelhouse conceals practical storage.
The wheelhouse has doors on both port and starboard sides for easy access and mooring. The helm station features an adjustable pilot chair, large steering wheel, clear instrument panel, extra table, and cup holders. Behind the helm is a comfortable L-shaped sofa, a beautiful mahogany table, built-in bar/wine rack, and large windows providing ample light and views.
Below deck is a social lounge and dining area, a well-equipped galley, two spacious cabins, two heads, and a separate shower room. The cabins have fixed berths for 4 people, and the lounge can be converted, allowing sleeping accommodations for 6–7 in total.
The galley includes original Storebro porcelain, cooktop, and combo oven (microwave + convection). Ample storage throughout makes this boat ideal for long trips – and perfect as a liveaboard.
Seakeeping
The Storebro 43 features a traditional, safe hull with low planing threshold and very pleasant seakeeping abilities. The boat is stable at sea and easy to maneuver, even in tight harbors. Cruising speed is approx. 15–17 knots, with a top speed of around 21 knots – an excellent balance between comfort, fuel economy, and performance.
Engines and Technical Equipment
Powered by two reliable and modern Volvo Penta TAMD 71B engines, each producing 380 HP (total 760 HP). Though built in 1992, the engines were installed in 2012.
In 2024, the following work was done:
– Exhaust elbow replaced on one engine (2025)
– Diesel tanks cleaned and fitted with inspection hatches (2024)
– Batteries for anchor windlass and bow thruster replaced (2025)
– Starter batteries replaced in 2023
– One starter motor replaced in 2023
New freshwater pump in 2023
The generator is original and still runs like a charm. The engine room is easily accessible and very service-friendly, with good space between the engines.
Summary
This is a rarely available and well-maintained classic from Storebro, featuring modern engines, extensive documentation, and generous technical and interior solutions. A boat that turns heads, provides great joy at the helm, and offers eligibility for restoration grants thanks to its protected status.
Everything is in place for many years of safe, comfortable, and stylish experiences at sea.
The boat is located in Sandefjord.
